Needless to Say, Gonna Be a Bitchin' Summer

Greetings from Alton, Illinois as we enter the first week of the Under The Sun Tour 2014. We could not have asked for a better first show playing front of 40,000 adoring fans in Omaha, Nebraska! Incredible to see all the bands get so much love from a gigantic sea of people...everything I'd hoped this tour would be when I first envisioned UTS. Needless to say, gonna be a bitchin' summer.

Very quickly, we added a new bass player, his name is Kristian Attard (@kristianattard) and has toured the world with the likes of Jason Mraz, Heart, Zedd, etc. . He's another Aussie just like the homey Serg, and they are actually in a killer band together called Intergalactix. We unfortunately lost Serg to Earth, Wind and Fire, and wish him nothing but the best, but are so happy to have found Kristian as it feels like he's been in the band for years. And of course, brother Dean Butterworth (Ben Harper, Morrissey, Good Charlotte) is our rock solid foundation behind the drums and he sings like an angel to! These guys are all world class musicians and human beings, and Rod and I are so lucky to share the stage with them. Also, a big thank you to the hardest working crew in the business that I'm happy to call my friends, Dave Fisher, Mitch Townsend, Dickie Bussola, and Tom Hudak

So cool to see my old homey Uncle Kracker back onstage, his band is phenomenal, and his voice has never been better. He is one of the nicest, most down to earth souls I have ever met on this earth, and it's a joy to have him out this summer.

Speaking of joys, the Blues Traveler guys are extremely cool, and what a talented band. This year is probably the most diverse line up, and it's really cool to see the audiences appreciating what's going on onstage.

And of course our brothers from another Smash Mouth, simply kill it every night. Steve Harwell makes me laugh 24 hours a day (literally!), and it's great to see Paul, Sean, Jason and Michael (Hippy!) slay every night...

Last night in Iowa we were fortunate enough to have the Spin Doctors open the show, and let's just say they are a must consideration for UTS2015 (never too early to be thinking about it!). Such monster players with great songs...the audience was on their feet as soon as they took the stage.

Btw, make sure you check out my Twitter as the line ups are changing daily, kind of what happens when you have 4 headliners!

Sharknado 2 The Second One is coming! It premieres July 30th on SyFy channel at 9p Eastern, and all I can say is make sure you watch the premiere because we will all be live tweeting. You can't have the full experience unless you participate!

Finally, shout out to my LA Kings, winner of Lord Stanley and will always be the only team in Southern California and go US Soccer!

As always, thank you to everyone for all the love and support, always so grateful for the chance to perform!

Re: Needless to Say, Gonna Be a Bitchin' Summer

I was born in 1994 which has always made me feel like I barely caught the edge of what would become my favorite decade for music. My parents, being in their early 20s, listened to all the great 90s/00s artists, including; Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth, Uncle Kracker, and Blues Traveler. I went to the show in Springfield, Illinois without hesitation after hearing about it on a local radio station. I guess the whole point of this comment is to say that your show was amazing and the energy you projected was fantastic! Many thanks to you and everyone else who helped put on such a wonderful show. I was front and center for the entire concert! The only thing that would have made a great night even better would have been if you guys played Falls Apart, but I understand that there wasn't time!

Cheers,
Carissa

I was at the Iowa show, and you guys rocked the Hawkeye Nation. Glad you got your set in before the storm broke loose. I hope you were safe and dry in your bus by then, although you would have been welcome inside with us 3000+ soaking wet fans. Hope you're back in my area soon:) Happy 4th!!

Hi Mark,

You were AWESOME last night at Stage ae's under the sun tour in Pittsburgh, Pa last night. I had a hard time seeing you since I was standing by the very large speakers to your left and I'm only 5 feet tall plus there was a 7 foot guy next to me, but you put on a GREAT SHOW!!!. Hope you come back to Pittsburgh again soon. Next time I will get there early so that I don't have to stand behind the speakers that are taller than I am..lol

Your number 1 fan,
Sandy
